I am not proud to say that this is the SECOND ceiling cat parody I have made, but I guess it's kind of nice that this one was easier to do and looks better (no it isn't). But yeah, like dafnap said, Ceiling Cat Cas is practically canon!

ASSASSIN'S CREED 2: I BOUGHT IT AND AM PLAYING IT (AND LOVING IT), TO MY SURPRISE!

Even with all the talk and super-deluxe artbook/figure edition pre-ordering going on in the background at work, Assassin's Creed (2) sounded like the kind of game I wouldn't really be able to get into (granted, whenever I hear the guys talk about games I usually end up LOL'ing more than getting interested). THEN halcyonjazz posted like, three tweets about Italian insults and hand-gestures and the main character being a more effective Romano aaaand now I'm sixty bucks and a good night's sleep poorer BUT RICHER IN JOY.

I feel like that drawing of a shark is an affront to sharks everywhere, and I should probably be punched once in the face by a shark for it.

A nice Japanese textile shop called momen+ opened in Old Torrance recently. They offer craft and beginning sewing classes, so I dropped by today and took the beginning sewing class.

I finished filling up a sketchbook, so I thought I'd scan some random pages in! Normally when I make sketch posts I try to rearrange things nicely so they don't look so insane (believe it or not), but this time I didn't really do that. Basically, my sketchbook is something you'd expect to see a serial killer nerd carrying around, all battered and scribbled in and messy and schizophrenic, with indecipherable messages that even I can't understand.

There is fan stuff, original stuff and the usual weirdness!

Have you drawn/designed artwork for a fan convention that was used for merchandising purposes? If so, what compensation did you receive? What compensation would you expect to receive from a good-sized, non-profit, fan-run convention?

While I am passionate about artists getting fair to generous compensation/payment for their services, fan conventions seem generally unwilling or unable to offer much since they're concerned with making enough money to put on next year's convention. So I don't really know how to feel about this!

Any info/thoughts would be appreciated!

Drawn at Denny's on Sunday night while we were waiting for the traffic to clear. This was part of a very serious and thought-provoking discourse on fat dudes in cat suits.



LOOOOOVE YOUUUU

SDCC was awesome! I am so much poorer in money and richer in yay. So many things entertained me and titillated me and stoked up my excitement to draw and create things. I met and bought things from loads of artists I respect, idolize, and/or stalk, and I probably scared all of them or at least made them feel acutely uncomfortable. And of course the con wouldn't have been the same without Lisa, Ivan, Chris, Ann, and beer! Other social highlights: harassing Dafna at work and meeting her Iron Man friends over dinner and drinks, creeping up behind the awesome Fawn like a stalker at the Women in Manga panel, and cackling with Christina in the Artist Alley. Such good times!

Life!:

I am getting my laptop back tonight after more than a month of not having a computer at home! Yay!

I have a PLAN for time management and creative output. I feel pretty good about it. I also have a lot of personal and collaborative projects that I'm excited to work on. Most of them are very silly and/or weird. I hope to share more soon!

I'm going to seriously start looking for a new place to live. My apartment is pretty old, the noise level isn't great, and it's overpriced compared to most of the listings around my area. I think shopping for apartments is fun (I think that might be weird? I don't know), and with the market the way it is now there are lots of different places to look at. Wish me luck!
