It is pretty much guaranteed that there will be 500+ really unfortunate Hetalia fanvids to this like yesterday, but I don't care because VIOLIN SOLO
Unrelated: Having a big purse may not be strictly fashionable but a bag that can house my sketchbook, another book, my wallet, god knows what else PLUS a big bottle of gin is good enough for me! I would do that bag meme but I'm honestly scared of what I might find in there. |

Just a reminder to keep spreading the word!
Creatives on the f-list, I hope you'll consider sending in a pitch or application! It's an exciting undertaking, and I'd love for loooads of awesome people to contribute to it.
F*X*T's looking for:
- comic pitches (oneshot or 4-issue)
- illustrations (applications for now; there will be a different theme for each quarterly issue)
It really is a rare opportunity to be in a publication like this these days (with compensation, even)!
You can find more information at the FIXIT Magazine website. The deadlines are soon, so check it out noooow! |

[Jan. 29th, 2010|01:57 am] |
I've been posting a lot lately! I hope I'm not annoying anyone too much. SCROLL BABY, SCROLL
I stopped using Twitter, but I still can't seem to get the knack of writing longer, coherent entries. The following should probably have bullet points but nnnghh:
Every time I get a headache, I am scared there is a gas or carbon monoxide leak in my place and I AM GOING TO DIE
Speaking of my place, I am pretty sure putting all the books on one side of the living room was a bad idea because the foundation might be um tilting. Did I mention that my place is a unit in an old, run-down duplex that may have been used as a brothel during WWII?
I got super-cheap furniture today! The company had an internal silent auction during the workday, and I came away with a computer chair, a small bookcase, and a very nice if a little banged-up wood desk for $20 total. Of course, the auction was held because the company's vacating the downstairs office due to all the recent firings aaaand now I have just harshed my thrifty consumerist glow.
I liked the teenaged girl in Supernatural tonight! I kind of wish she could have been Ruby or another multi-episode character. The story possibilities! Getting beat down by a 17-year-old girl wearing a cardigan! Not to mention the awkward sexual tension that comes with demon-possessed ladies. Sam would be horrified, Dean would... probably not.
Downloading the AC2 DLC tonight, but may not get to it until Saturday. WAIT FOR ME, EZIO/LEONARDO/CATERINA
( 3/5 meme responses, I'm sorry guys (GROSS UNDER HERE GROSS) ) |

| TCAF |
[Jan. 26th, 2010|06:09 pm] |
I'm going to try to save up enough money and vacation days to go to TCAF in May! The list of exhibitors is really something else, and I think it'd be worth the travel expense to breathe on and buy things from amazing artists/comickers I admire like Graham Annable, Kate Beaton, Scott Campbell, Michael DeForge, Meredith Gran, KC Green, Hellen Jo, lucylou, Joseph Lambert, Dylan Meconis, Erika Moen, romanshoubu, aidosaur, and piratecore TO NAME A FEW.
So far it's looking like me, Ivan, and LMC are making the trip. Does anyone else want to go? Anybody want to meet up there? :D
I've never been to Toronto (or Canada!) before. I hear it is an awesome place! What kind of things are there to do? Should I eat poutine? |

[Jan. 25th, 2010|07:35 pm] |
I doodled this on Tegaki-E a few weeks ago when Dafna and I were in our initial throes of OH MY GOD WE'RE GONNA MAKE A DUMB WEBCOMIC. The doodles are not very good and I'm still getting a handle on how I want to draw them, but HI, HI DAFNA :D

We just have to kind of write it now. :B |

Work is soul-bruisingly quiet today, but soon I will be at home drawing!
In the meantime, meme? I'm always keen to get crit/advice! I already have a list of things I want to work on, but getting outside input is super helpful. :O
ASS-PATS: 1) I like/love when you draw: 2) Please draw more: 3) I wish you drew more fanart of these series/characters: 4) I wish you did more original art of these characters: 5) I'd love to read a comic about: 6) My favorite part of your work is:
CRIT: 1) I think you would benefit from studying/working on this: 2) You kind of have a bad habit when it comes to:
OTHER: 1) When I think of your art I think: 2) I want your next project to be: 3) Other comments:
EDIT: I think there are a few people who might be intimidated by me? PLEASE DON'T BE, I ATE BEEF JERKY FOR BREAKFAST THIS MORNING AND MY FRIENDS BOUGHT ME A GPS FOR MY BIRTHDAY. Also I'm listening to a song called "STD Fury". I am the lamest and least intimating person ever! I'm pretty bad myself about replying when I feel like I have little to contribute, but please never feel like you're not welcome to comment or poke me or make fun of the weird way I hold my pen. |

I comment-tackled two people before I saw the last part of this meme, har har. I won't be able to do these until after tomorrow, but I'll take the requests now!
!! The first five people to comment in this post get to request that I write a drabble or draw a doodle of any pairing/character of their choosing. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level.
Re: birfday, thank you so so much for this weekend! Thank you for the well-wishes and the presents. I love that most of the gifts were related to alcohol, cats, mystical narwhals, and me getting lost everywhere forever (seriously guys thank you for the GPS LOL YOU GUYS, YOU GOT ME A GPS). I thought I wasn't going to be able to make it through Saturday without passing out, but there was so much awesome going on I only nodded off twice on the couch, and that was warmly sandwiched between other people drowsy from all the delicious food. THANK YOU LISA AND LISA'S FAMILY AND EVERYBODY |

So when I am busy, I like to take breaks and draw stupid things on Tegaki. I am learning new things about myself!
( More random Hetalia junk, bad hipsters trio )
...I don't want to say what I was listening to while I drew this. (It definitely wasn't Glazunov.) |

[Jan. 4th, 2010|10:47 am] |
Since the reveals are up, I figure it's cool to link now!
I participated in yuletart this year: P4 art here, Dojima and Adachi, no spoilers. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, though of course now that I'm looking back at it I wish I'd done a few things better/differently. :B
Major thanks and props to the moderators of yuletart for putting on such a big and happy event!
EDIT: Yuletart masterlist here! 99 artists, wow. |

I don't know how you guys did/do it, but seriously, thank you then and thank you now for your tolerance and support, because somehow I think I actually have managed to improve in a lot of ways! I think. Small ways, maybe.
( Really big image )
To the next decade!

| Happy New Year! |
[Jan. 1st, 2010|04:04 pm] |

If you have to be working right up until the New Year hits, I figure it's not so bad if the work is drawing gazelles rocking out on electric basses and kangaroos playing harps! The pina coladas, mochi, Edward Sharpe and dafnap yelling at Dr. Who didn't hurt, either. After midnight hit we wandered around town on foot, taking in the illegal fireworks being set off in the distance, neighbors banging on pots and pans, and jackasses sitting on their car horns. It was good times, even though the izakaya we wanted to go to was closed (we went to Norm's instead)!
Back to work. Happy New Year, everyone! I feel really lucky to know all of you. <3

| Thom and Hal are fancy bathroom BFFs |
[Dec. 18th, 2009|07:49 am] |
So instead of going to sleep or doing anything on my list of things I need to do, I decided to read Havemercy! Man was that ever a fun read, like a delicious deluxe cake with extra fruity fujoshi icing on top.
THAT SAID, if you've read the book you probably know exactly what portion of my reading experience this is:

There was a lot more embarrassing flailing and book-shaking and cajoling that followed, and I even sent a colorful email to halcyonjazz, but eventually I settled down like an adult and finished the rest of the book (and looooved it).
BUT YEAH
THANKS FOR THAT, AUTHORS (I LOVE YOU)
I'll probably buy the sequel before the week's over. Woo!
RIGHT PRIORITIES I CAN FIND THOSE |
