Linkdump - Animation blogs

Chatting about the influence meme on Twitter (I'm a fan, I think it's great fun) led to me twit-bomb Seki with artist blogs, so I thought I might recreate and buff up the list in an LJ post.

First up, LET ME SING THE GOSPEL OF GOOGLE READER. I've always enjoyed following the blogs and websites of artists I admire, but keeping up with all of them got to be a pain. As much as I loved cataloging and trimming and moving bookmarks around (no, really), it was a real time suck. With Google Reader, I keep tabs on a long list of artist blogs, plus random craft/design/special interest blogs, through one website. I'll add URLs from Flickr, Blogspot, LJ, Tumblr, or any other site with a syndicated feed, and when those sites or blogs have new content, it'll pop up on my reader. I can get a fresh cup of inspiration from my browser every morning! /spiel

So, links: I've got a lot of blogs in my Reader, but the following are some of my favorites in the animation/art category. These are all artists who have worked or are working in animation. At first I was going to try to organize by studio, but so many of these artists have worked or continue to work for multiple studios, AND post legitimately amazing personal work besides, so it seemed a little silly!

Cartoons!

I came across this in my steadily-becoming-unmanageable collection of blog feeds. I love it! I don't know if it's necessarily attached to Chibi Maruko-chan, though? Oh well!

EDIT: NO WONDER, it's Masaaki Yuasa!

Chibi Maruko-chan nostalgia, favorite clips I've seen on Youtube )

If you have any neat animation clips, let's all share! :D

Luke "The Answer" Triton

I am so sleepy this is probably a lot like a drunk post! Bad judgment.

Today I've been working on some stuff that I'm going to try to have done for Fanime. Christine came over to work on her stuff, and Vinnie and Lisa came over and played Heavy Rain. Lisa managed to get the worst possible ending, and I think we can all take a little bit of the blame for that.

three things I miiiiight finish by Fanime )

Post-TCAF: What is this... feeling?!

What a wild weekend! Thank you Fawn and LMC for being awesome and eating poutine and waffles with me and being shiny-comic-magpie bretheren.

I got to meet, eat Indian food, and draw with some amazing people: [info]romanshoubu, [info]hamlet_machine, [info]thepapermouse, [info]koyar, [info]5cmprince, Kim and Julie (I hope I got your names right, also Julie I wasn't sure if I should post your SUPER SECRET LJ).

I was able to meet and buy comics/zines from some of my favorite artists, AND meet and buy comics/zines from a lot of NEW favorite artists! The level of quality at TCAF was overwhelmingly high; it was bananas. I'm a little too beat to do a full write-up right now, so here is a representative picture of my crazy pile of loot:

IN RELATED NEWS, I am eating frozen lunches for the rest of this month! 4 for $7 at Target!

[info]re_love, I'm really sorry we didn't get a chance to meet! I didn't realize until I was at the airport that I forgot your phone number! :(

Last-minute F*X*T commission drive

I think anyone here who was interested in donating has already, and shoooooot who would want my dumb art anyway, but just in case!

I made the last-minute decision to take quick commissions for anyone donating $20+ to FIXIT-Mag. Because it's a commission pledge drive, the process is a little different, and the money is up-front. You can read more about it here!

3 days left!!

That movie JAB won't shut up about

They announced the sequel today! I hope they don't Shrek it... the word "franchise" makes my buttcheeks clench in dread.

SPEAKING OF, some HTTYD sketches )

I'm a geeeeek

Also I love Nico Marlet (if you couldn't tell)!

In related news, I've decided to create a new deviantART account with a less, uh, memorable name: http://workparty.deviantart.com. FRESH BEGINNINGS! DRAWING FOREVER!

I did not know that at school you learn things!

Today was the last day of the Analytical Figure Drawing class I was taking at Concept Design Academy. You know how when you're right in it, it's hard to really know if or how you've improved? Today I took a look at the first day of class and today's, and good gravy )

I'm going to take storyboarding next quarter, and maybe one other course if I can afford it. Education is fun! I am super excited because apparently the instructor is going to be one of the artists who worked on storyboards for How to Train Your Dragon! Such a neat school. Related is something I drew for LMC because she wanted to see me suffer:

I should show that to the instructor next month, I'm sure it'll really paint me in a really good, sane-person light.
